Successful completion of this course provides you with opportunities to work in the manufacturing industry, particularly in small to medium-sized organisations.

The course offers you extensive training in computer-aided design (CAD) which many employers find attractive.

The course articulates into the Advanced Diploma of Engineering and may provide credit towards a Bachelor of Engineering.

What you learn

You learn skills in the design, development, and drafting of components and machinery required in manufacturing industries. You use a range of materials such as metals, non-metals, composite materials, and plastics. The course includes design for manufacture.

Delivery method and course duration

The course is normally delivered full- time over one year. Another version of the course, which can be extremely demanding for participants, is delivered over six months.

Entry requirements

  • You need to have completed Year 12, or be a mature-aged student.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessment will be conducted via observation, questioning and practical demonstration or by recognition of prior learning.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive an AQF qualification.
