Are you working in the Community Services sector? Have you over 12 months experience in this sector?

Do you want to gain a qualification? If yes, fast track your qualification in the Diploma of Community Services Work by gaining recognition of  your current skills and knowledge in selected units.

As a graduate, you can find work in neighbourhood houses, local government, health agencies, human services, and a range of other government and non-government social and community service organisations. You can continue your studies in the higher education sector in the social sciences.

What you learn

This course emphasises a professional, empathetic approach to working with individuals, families, and communities in their social environments.

You explore the skills of counselling, teamwork, group development, casework, and communication in the context of welfare and community development practice.

Course duration 2 years.

Course mode Full-time or part-time or as a traineeship.

Entry requirements

  • You will need sound English language and literacy skills.
  • Students will be selected following participation in an interview (selected applicants only).
  • You will be required to undergo a National Police Records check and a Working with Children Check (Victoria) before work placement begins.

Assessment

A range of assessment strategies to meet different learner needs will be selected. Assessment strategies may focus on group-based, work-based, project-based, self-paced, and action learning. Aspects of the course may be completed face-to-face or by distance, and may involve practice and experience in the workplace.

Outcomes and accreditations

On successful completion of this course, you will receive an AQF qualification and a statement listing all units that you have successfully completed.
