About this course

This course will provide a background in sustainability and practical advice on the types of retrofitting that can be undertaken in residential properties to assist households to reduce their daily impact on the environment.

Retrofitting tasks in this context will include:

  • replacing light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs
  • sealing of draught and leakage points
  • installing windows coverings and treatments
  • basic plumbing tasks
  • installing ceiling insulation. 

Retrofitters who complete this course will not be engaged in building and construction work, and will not undertake tasks normally completed by a qualified tradesperson. Possible employment options may include local councils, private companies, utility and maintenance companies.
