Where this course may lead

This course may provide pathways to the Certificate I in Work Education or to further study.

What you learn

If you have a disability or additional learning needs, this course introduces you to adult learning at TAFE. You have the opportunity to choose a short course that meets your needs and interests.

All classes are small so that you receive adequate help during class time.

You choose modules from the Certificate I in Transition Education, which can change each year in response to interest. Subject areas for 2011 may include the following:

  • literacy and numeracy
  • everyday computers
  • gardening
  • creative arts
  • healthy cooking on a budget
  • woodwork
  • creative story writing using assistive technology.

Details

Delivery method and course duration

This course is delivered part-time over six or twelve months (one half-day a week for each unit).

Course modules run between February and November.

Entry requirements

You must:

  • have a disability or additional learning needs
  • be over 16 years of age
  • be able to interact and communicate with people in familiar surroundings.

You need to attend an interview before your enrolment is accepted.

Assessment

Some modules are not assessed and focus on skill development. During other modules, assessment is completed through classroom activities and practical tasks

Outcomes and accreditations

All participants receive a Certificate of Participation and those who successfully complete an assessed module will gain a Statement of Attainment.
