Where this course may lead

You develop the knowledge and skills required to work as an interior decorator, colour consultant or to assist an interior designer.

What you learn

You learn about design theory and history, design principles and elements, computer-aided design (CAD), building construction and working drawings, sketching, soft furnishings, advanced communication skills, and lighting design. There is an emphasis on residential decoration in this course.

Entry requirements

  • You require sound English language and literacy skills.
  • Students will be selected through an interview process.
  • Successful completion of Year 12, or enrol as a mature age applicant and/or have relevant work experience in the building industry.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • You will be assessed on completion of allocated assignments and presentation of projects.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive an AQF qualification.
