Where this course may lead

You develop skills that may help you to gain promotion into supervisory and managerial positions. This course may also provide pathways to further qualifications in management and human resource management, with successful completion of this course giving you one unit of credit towards these qualifications.

What you learn

This course is for people in positions that supervise or influence other employees. This is an ideal course for new supervisors, managers and team leaders who are seeking to develop their skills and abilities in management and to have their skills recognised by a formal process.

As this course incorporates practical projects in the workplace, time spent on training is time spent developing you and your business. You learn about risk management, teams and leadership, customer service and workplace safety.

Course duration 1 year.

Course mode Traineeship, or distance education, or fast-track (a series of specialist workshops).

Entry requirements

  • Ideally you are employed in a supervisory or managerial role, or be able to demonstrate relevant education and/or work experience.
  • You must also be able to use current word-processing software, search the internet, and have well-developed reading, writing and speaking skills.
  • You may be required to attend an interview before you enrol. 

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Observation, project/assignment/activity, practical assessment, on-the-job assessment, interview/oral questioning, portfolio of your work, third party (workplace) report, learning journal.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you receive an AQF qualification.
