Certificate IV in Career Development

Where this course may lead

This course is appropriate for people who are:

• looking for work, or who are currently working, in career information and transition services
• providing job search and employment services
• providing assistance as career advisors in education and training contexts
• working under the Career Advice Australia initiative.

What you learn

Completion of the core units gives you the skills you need to apply a career development framework, provide careers guidance, plan/access career pathways, and analyse and apply labour market information.

The development of further skills depends on the elective units you choose.

There are no formal entry requirements.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

• Observation at work, Observation in simulated environment (e.g. at TAFE), Project / assignment / activity, Practical assessment, On-the-job assessment, Interview / oral questioning, Portfolio of your work, Third party (workplace) report, Learning Journal.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you receive an AQF qualification and a statement of attainment listing all units that you have completed.
