Where this course may lead
Our graduates have achieved excellent employment outcomes in the motorsports industry. Many have been offered employment with professional motorsport teams. Others continue their studies in the Certificate IV in Motorsport or go on to apprenticeships in the motorsport/auto performance industry or allied trades. To complete the Certificate IV in Motorsport, you must already hold the Certificate III in Motorsport.
What you learn
You learn to work as a member of a motorsport team. You will take part in theory classes and also develop the practical experience you need in order to understand motorsport operations including:
- working in a motorsport environment in race teams and trackside, applying diagnostic procedures, and maintaining and preparing race vehicles
- data logging and race vehicle set-up, including suspension (tyres and vehicle configuration), and auto electrical (including wiring looms and charging systems
- machining, fabrication, computer-aided design (CAD), and composite materials
- theory (classroom activity) is consolidated with ‘hands on’ workshops and trackside experience.
Students work with a range of MTA equipment including a V8 Supercar, Formula Fords, karts, a turbocharged sports sedan, a speedway car and other vehicles from our various partners. You are also offered placement with motorsport teams to assist at trackside events - a great way to gain real experience and develop networks and contacts in the industry!
