Overview

Where this course may lead

You will be able to work as a camera assistant, production assistant or interactive media author assistant. Otherwise you can choose your media area of most interest and specialise, by undertaking further TAFE studies, such as Certificate IV in Screen and Media, Certificate IV in Sound Production, Certificate IV in Interactive Digital Media, or Certificate IV in Photoimaging. Some of your certificate III units may be credited towards the courses mentioned.

What you learn

You will get hands-on learning in the most fun and interesting aspects of the media industries including radio and television production, three-dimensional (3D) animation, digital photography and Adobe Photoshop.

Entry requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites for this qualification. We recommend that you have completed Year 10 as a minimum, or that you enrol as a mature-aged student.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessment may include practical, portfolio, and assignment-based tasks. If you already work in the industry, you may also have the opportunity to be assessed in your workplace.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you receive an AQF qualification.
