Where this course may lead

This trade-recognised course provides the skills you need for employment in roles ranging from a nursery assistant to a nursery tradesperson in nursery businesses and local government.

It can also form the foundation of further study in other horticulture streams.

What you learn

You learn the technical horticultural skills and knowledge you need to enter the wholesale or retail nursery industry.

The courses cover plant recognition, plant growth habits, nursery operations, propagation, soils, pests, diseases, and occupational health and safety.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessments will be varied, including observation, practical demonstration and/or assignment work and written assessments.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive an AQF qualification and a statement listing all units.
