Where this course may lead

These courses in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) provide you with the skills you need to work in a range of jobs, from an assistant to a tradesperson in a parks and gardens setting such as businesses with extensive grounds, botanic gardens, public and private parks and gardens, and local government.

These courses are trade-recognised qualifications and can also form the foundation of further study in other horticulture streams.

What you learn

You learn the technical horticultural skills and knowledge you need to enter the parks and gardens industry. These courses cover plant recognition, plant growth habits, machinery operation, propagation, soils, pests and diseases, and occupational health and safety.

You need basic literacy skills.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessments will be varied, including observation, practical demonstration and/or assignment work and written assessments.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive an AQF qualification.
