Where this course may lead

With successful completion of this course, you gain a trade qualification and may progress to further training in management, supervision, inspection, quality control, and testing.

Qualified and skilled tradespeople can seek employment in many areas of the engineering industry, including fabrication, stainless steel areas, sheet-metal ducting, construction, maintenance, pressure plate and pipe welding.

What you learn

You learn to work as an apprentice boilermaker and sheet metal worker. You develop skills in metal fabrication, pattern development, welding, computers in engineering, and robotics.

Course duration 3 years.

Course mode Apprenticeship, or part-time. 

Entry requirements

  • You need to be currently employed as an apprentice or trainee in metal fabrication.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • You will be assessed through a combination of practical skills, projects and theory assessments.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive an AQF qualification.
