Where this course may lead

This course provides you with the foundation skills you need to work in a business environment across a range of job roles, for example, as an:

  • accounts receivable clerk
  • accounts payable clerk
  • office administration assistant
  • office administrator.

What you learn

You develop an intermediate level of office, clerical, and technological skills. You learn about business procedures in a modern office and build a range of advanced office skills. You use Microsoft® Windows and Microsoft® Office to cover the most frequently-used computer applications.

Delivery method and course duration

Course duration 6 months | Course mode Traineeship, or full-time on campus, or distance education.

Classes are scheduled to commence in February 2012, until June 2012.

Entry requirements

We recommend that you have completed the Certificate II in Business or have other relevant qualifications, or that you have an equivalent level of administrative experience.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Observation at work, Observation in simulated environment (e.g. at TAFE), Project/assignment/activity, Practical assessment, On-the-job assessment, Interview/oral questioning, Portfolio of your work, Third party (workplace) report, Learning Journal.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you receive an AQF qualification.
