Where this course may lead

Successfully completing this combined course (Certificates III and IV) may give you a pathway into employment in the visual art and craft industries, either on a self-employed basis, or in an arts administration role. It also opens opportunities for further studies at diploma level.

What you learn

You develop an in-depth knowledge of the cultural and visual arts. Your studies include painting, sculpture in clay, wood and mixed media, print making, and drawing.

Entry requirements

  • You need to have completed the combined Certificate I in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts and Certificate II in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts, before commencing study at this level. Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate your creative skills in a portfolio interview.
  • You must attend an interview (you can have the Aboriginal Liaison Officer or an Indigenous teacher as a support person in the interview with you).

Assessment

The level of competency developed through this course will be assessed using the following methods.

  • Observation, questioning and practical demonstration through port folio, visual diary and exhibition.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

On successful completion of this course, you receive an AQF qualification.
