Where this course may lead

This course prepares you for entry-level employment in an information technology (IT) environment.

What you learn

This course will enable you to develop your basic skills in all the key areas of computer use and learn to effectively use a range of different programs to perform common tasks for your home or business.

During the course, you will use the Microsoft® Office 2007 suite of software applications.

Entry requirements

We recommend that you have completed Year 10 as a minimum, or that you enrol in this course as a mature-aged student.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Observation at work, Observation in simulated environment (e.g. at TAFE), Project / assignment / activity, Practical assessment, On-the-job assessment, Interview / oral questioning, Portfolio of your work, Third party (workplace) report, Learning Journal.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

If you successfully complete this course, you receive an AQF qualification and a statement of attainment listing all units.
