Where this course may lead

Completion of this qualification will open up employment and career opportunities for you in the building and construction (carpentry) industry.

Successfully completing this course will give you credit towards a carpentry apprenticeship (certificate III level).

Students will also be required to complete CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry (Construction Industry Card). 

What you learn

You will gain the skills and knowledge required for carpentry, this includes gaining experience in using hand and power tools. You will learn a wide range of carpentry skills including how to install windows and doors, wall framing, interior fixing and roofing.

Delivery method and course duration

This course is delivered 3 days per week over a 25 week period. Contact Timber Studies for an up-to-date timetable.

This course may also be studied as a subject for VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning). 

Entry requirements

  • There are no formal entry requirements.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age to enrol.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • You will be assessed through a combination of practical work, project work and theory testing.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

When you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry) Pre-apprenticeship.
