Finished school? Need a job?

This course is for students with a disability or additional learning needs. It prepares young people who are over the age of 16 years to be ready for employment.

What you learn

You learn about a number of different workplaces. Other study topics include:

  • personal management
  • team work
  • communication skills
  • career planning
  • workplace skills.

You have a choice of vocational elective studies which may include horticulture, first aid, hospitality, using the internet, retail, and warehousing.

You also undertake work placement experiences during the course.

Course duration 1 year. | Course mode Full-time.

Entry requirements

  • You must be over 16 years of age and have a disability or additional learning needs.
  • You must be willing and able to undertake open employment.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessment is completed through classroom activities, practical work skills and work placement interviews and evaluation.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

All participants who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate I in Work Education. Learners who successfully complete assessed module/s will gain a Statement of Attainment.

Fees and charges

Fees vary depending on your individual circumstances. This is a Foundation Skills course. If you meet the citizenship/residency requirements, your fees for 2012 will range from $50 to $500 tuition plus a student amenities fee and materials fee depending on the modules chosen.
