Apprenticeships and traineeships for job seekers

The Australian Apprenticeship Program (including traineeships and traditional apprenticeships) is a national system that enables people to work, learn, and gain a nationally-recognised qualification, all at the same time.

Wodonga Institute offers flexible, work-based training and assessment that may include classroom delivery, 'block' release, online learning, and self-paced learning materials. We deliver this training across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland.

What are the major benefits?

  • Provides a direct career pathway from school to work.
  • A great way to get a head start on your chosen career by engaging with industry earlier.
  • Earn while you learn.
  • Receive nationally recognised qualifications that can be used Australia wide.
  • Receive 'competency-based' training that recognises existing skills and prior experience meaning that you can complete your qualification faster.

An apprenticeship or traineeship can take you between one and four years to complete depending on the qualification level, your existing relevant skills and knowledge, the average number of hours you work, and specific industry requirements. We offer apprenticeship qualifications at Certificate III level, and traineeship qualifications from Certificate II to Diploma levels.

How to become an Australian apprentice

You need to obtain employment in the industry that you are interested in before you can start your training course as an apprentice. To do this, register your details with an employment service, group training company, or job network provider. Alternatively, you can contact employers direct to demonstrate your passion for obtaining employment in their industry (this is highly recommended).
