Youth*
Certificate Training Incentives are available to youth who left school in 2011 and would like to enrol in a qualification at Wodonga TAFE. Each voucher will cover up to 50% of course tuition fees for people enrolling in certificate I to certificate IV level courses. Training incentives do not apply to those people receiving a concession rate or eligibility exemption.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is offering Defence Technical Scholarships for Year 11 and 12 students and VCAL students intending to pursue a general entry technical trade through the ADF after completing Year 12. Although there is no obligation to join the ADF after completing school, applicants will be required to tell the ADF why they are interested in an ADF technical trade career as part of the selection process.

People with a disability*
The Department of Justice Disability Leadership Enhancement Scholarship Program is available to Victorian residents who have a disability, to assist them in gaining tertiary qualifications in a justice-related field. Applicants are required to undertake study at a diploma level or higher in the area of law, criminology, para-legal, psychology, social work or other justice-related fields.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders*
The Indigenous Business Australia Scholarship Fund provides financial support for mature age Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Australians to achieve a tertiary educational qualification in commercial or economic management. Scholarships are intended for ATSI Australians who face financial barriers that might otherwise restrict them from gaining a tertiary qualification, and who are able to share their qualifications to enhance their community’s economic and financial development.
The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people who are intending to undertake study or are undertaking study in an entry level qualification at an Australian university or TAFE (certificate IV level and above) in the areas of Aboriginal health worker, allied health, dentistry/oral health, enrolled nursing, registered nursing, midwifery or medicine.
The Aboriginal Study to Work Program offers Aboriginal people an opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification at certificate IV level while working on an ongoing part-time basis over a 12 to 24 month period with the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health.
Indigenous Cadetship Support is available to people who identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are undertaking full-time study in a diploma, advanced diploma or their first degree in a at a TAFE college or other registered training organisation or university located within Australia.

Apprentices*
Ben Chifley Scholarships are available to apprentices in an approved apprenticeship in country NSW. Each scholarship is valued at $5,000 for each year while the apprentice is completing their apprenticeship up to a maximum of $15,000. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of hardship, aptitude for vocational education and training, and the nominee’s trade in an identified skill shortage area in NSW and/or the nominee’s local area.

Carers residing in Victoria*
The ‘Victoriaworks for carers returning to work’ grants are an initiative from the Victorian Government and are aimed at supporting eligible carers who have been out of the workforce because of their caring duties and wish to undertake training and return to work. Eligible applicants may claim course fees and training-related expenses to the value of $1,000.

Diploma and advanced diploma enrolments*
To assist you in achieving your dream you now have access to CareerDirect Scholarships. These scholarships have been established by Wodonga TAFE to support students in funding the fees associated with enrolling in a diploma or advanced diploma course at Wodonga TAFE. Depending on circumstances, the scholarship may cover up to 50% of the maximum tuition fee payable under the Victorian Government fee schedule* for a calendar year enrolment at Wodonga TAFE. This means that your scholarship may be worth up to $1000 depending on unit selection and the scholarship will be applied upon enrolment.

VET FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan scheme that is available to you if you are studying at diploma or advanced diploma level. If you meet the VFH eligibility criteria you can apply to the Commonwealth Government to pay tuition fees on your behalf. You will then have to repay this loan through your income tax once your income is above the minimum repayment threshold level for compulsory repayment. You can make voluntary repayments to reduce your HELP debit at any time.

The Charles Sturt University ‘TAFE to University’ Scholarship Program has been specifically developed for Diploma and Advanced Diploma TAFE students enrolled at participating TAFE institutes. Selection is based on academic achievement, industry experience or financial hardship. Each scholarship is worth $2,500.

Concession card holders*
If you enrol in a Victorian Government subsidised course you may be entitled to a concession on your tuition fees if you hold a valid Commonwealth Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Veterans Gold Card, or if you are the dependent spouse or child of a person who holds the Commonwealth Heath Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card. To claim the concession you must provide proof of eligibility at the time of enrolment. Regardless of the level of your course, Wodonga TAFE will allow a concession on your student amenities fee if you meet the eligibility criteria for concession as described above.

Payment plans
A variety of fee payment options are available at Wodonga TAFE. Students entering into a payment plan are required to pay a deposit of 25 per cent of their total fees, followed by regular direct debit payments from a nominated bank account until final payment is received prior to completion of their course. Payment plans are not available for diploma/advanced diploma courses as VET FEE-HELP is available. View more information on VET FEE-HELP.

Deferment of upfront component of fees
If payment of the upfront component of your course fees will cause undue hardship in the short term you may apply to waiver the upfront fee component and incorporate this amount into the schedule of your direct debits.

Financial hardship
If payment of the full amount of fees will cause undue hardship for you or your family, you can meet with a Learner Services staff person to discuss alternate financial options. If, after exploring all avenues of financial assistance, hardship is still evident you can apply to have part or all of your fees waived on the grounds of financial hardship. Your department will help you to complete a ‘CF037 Authority to waive fees on a learner’s case for hardship form’. You must also provide relevant evidence. You will then be required to put your case to a member of Wodonga TAFE’s executive team.
Student loans
The Wodonga TAFE Student Loan Fund is available to all students enrolled at Wodonga TAFE. The maximum loan amount is $350 and must be repaid within six months. Student loans cannot be used for payment of course fees.

Occupations that may be considered within the exemptions criteria include:
- agricultural professionals and skilled agricultural workers including agricultural scientists and advisors, farm managers and overseers and skilled agricultural workers
- building and engineering professionals and associate professionals including engineering and production managers, civil, electrical, mechanical and production engineers, building and architectural associates, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering associates
- construction tradespersons including roof slaters and tilers, floor finishers, carpenters, plumbers, gasfitters, roof plumbers, plasterers and painters
- electrical and electronics tradespersons including general electricians, air-conditioning mechanics and electronic equipment tradespersons
- food processing workers, particularly with higher level qualifications in the fields of food science, frontline management and lean production
- hospitality related food managers and tradespersons including chefs, bakers and pastry cooks
- nursing and health professionals and associate professionals, carers and aides including nurse managers and educators, registered nurses, midwifes and mental health nurses, dental technicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, enrolled nurses, ambulance officers, child care, aged care and special care workers and personal care and nursing assistants
- social welfare professionals and associate professionals including welfare and community workers and counsellors
- transport managers, administrators and clerks with high level logistics and supply chain management skills, and road and rail transport drivers.
