Computer skills for study

Wodonga TAFE offers a range of support facilities to improve students' skills in information technology (IT) and make studying more efficient and effective. These include:

Tutorials

Small class tutorials are held in Room A116 each Thursday during the term from 3.30pm to 5.00pm. Bring course work with you for assistance.

Typing tutor

Typing tutor software is available on the Wodonga TAFE network on I: drive to help teach you to touch type.

Voice activated software

A number of computers at Wodonga TAFE including those in E-Street have voice activated software that allows the computers to read your text and take dictation. Programs include Dragon Naturally Speaking, and Microsoft Voice Recognition.

Windows + S

In Microsoft Word many computers can read aloud what you have written simply by highlighting the text and pressing the 'Windows' key and the letter 'S' at the same time. This can be a handy tool during the editing process.

If nothing happens, check your volume is not muted.  If the text is replaced by the letter 'S' then this function has been disabled on your computer (press the undo arrow to bring the text back again).

Computer training

Training in computer skills is available from the Business, Communications and Service Industries Department.
