Accommodation

Once you have decided to study at Wodonga Institute of TAFE, you may need to think about where you are going to live - if you need to move closer to attend classes. This is a very important decision, especially if you are moving away from home for the first time.

The Albury Wodonga region has a range of accommodation options to choose from. The residential coordinator at Wodonga Institute can help you decide on the type of accommodation to suit you. Options vary and include:

  • renting or sharing a flat, house, or apartment
  • renting a caravan or cabin in the caravan park that adjoins Wodonga TAFE
  • accessing private board with a family
  • living on campus in the communal residences.

Wodonga Institute has a 69-room residential complex located on campus, that is shared with La Trobe University. Each of the 12 units in the complex houses four to six people. As a resident, you have your own bedroom, and share the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and living area. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with kitchen appliances. You need to bring your own crockery, cutlery, bed linen, pillow, and towels. One unit is fully accessible for learners with a physical disability.

Priority for places in the residential complex is given to full-time, first-year learners who are recent school leavers.

Wodonga TAFE offers 26 residential places on-campus for students studying at Albury-Wodonga. You must apply for on-campus accommodation before the end of the year, before you start your studies. Applying does not guarantee you a place. Places are limited and are allocated through a ballot process in January of each year.

Wodonga TAFE also provides help with finding off-campus accommodation, including full-board, shared and rental. More information, including the Off-campus accommodation register, is available on the La Trobe University website at http://www.latrobe.edu.au/aw/facilities/accommodation/off-campus

Prospective students are advised to contact the accommodation officer to discuss all accommodation options including temporary accommodation.
