Industry links and partnerships

Wodonga Institute of TAFE works in partnership with community and industry to help meet the workforce development needs of the Albury Wodonga region. This includes actively consulting with industry to make sure that training meets its future workforce needs so that graduates are always job-ready.

Community links are vital to our organisation's place in this region. For example, Wodonga Institute has provided its LIRNspace for the Country Fire Authority to use as an incident control centre during the fire season. A key partnership has been maintained with the Moira Health Alliance to enable access for rural and remote residents in that region to allied health and nursing training.

For employers, Wodonga Institute hosts a range of Victorian and Federal Government initiatives that provide employers with access to funding for training and workforce capability building assistance. 'Skills for Growth: the Workforce Development Program' is a free business assistance program provided by the Victorian Government. This program is designed to help small to medium-sized businesses identify their workforce development needs within the context of their business goals.

Community Services and Health, through its allied health program, delivers a program of day-long workshops every three weeks, alternating between Wodonga Regional Health Service, Alpine Health in Myrtleford, and Beechworth Health Service. These health organisations are highly supportive of the program and are now educating their own staff through the program. Learners have the added benefit of being exposed to the facilities and operations in different health services to enhance their learning. The relationship between these three facilities, located in different shires, has developed as a direct result of this training and the foresight that identified this opportunity.
