Apprenticeships and traineeships
The Australian Apprenticeship Scheme is a national system that enables you to work, learn, and gain a nationally-recognised qualification, all at the same time. This includes traditional apprenticeships and traineeships which can be full-time, part-time, or school-based. They are available to anyone of working age.
You do not need to meet any entry requirements. You can be a school leaver, re-entering the workforce, or just wanting to change careers.
An apprenticeship or traineeship can take you between one and four years to complete depending on the qualification level, your existing relevant skills and knowledge, the average number of hours you work, and specific industry requirements.
Wodonga Institute offers apprenticeship qualifications at Certificate III level and traineeship qualifications from Certificate II to Certificate IV levels. We offer flexible, work-based training and assessment that may also include classroom delivery, 'block' release, online learning, and self-paced learning materials. We deliver this training across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland.
How to become an Australian apprentice
You need to obtain employment in the industry that you are interested in before you can start your training course as an apprentice. To do this, register your details with an employment service, group training company, or job network provider. Alternatively, you can contact employers direct to demonstrate your passion for obtaining employment in their industry (this is highly recommended).
